Job Title: Junior’s Director
Reports To: Directors of Coaching
Performance Review: Executive Director

General Summary: The Juniors Director position runs the day-to-day coaching operations for our 6U through 10U Juniors. The position is responsible for ensuring 6U-10U Juniors coaching staff are creating learning opportunities for our players that 1) are consistent with our club’s vision and values, 2) are reflective of curricular and instructional best practices, and 3) advances the overall strategic plans of the club. The position oversees player development and works collaboratively with the others for age-group technical programming to best promote player development for both boys and girls within that age range. The position is restricted from performing similar duties for other clubs or organizations without prior written approval from the Executive Director.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Club lead for technical development programming of all junior players (6U-10U)
  • Developing training plans for Juniors program based on their skill level 
  • Creating a safe environment for children to learn the game, teamwork, and sportsmanship
  • Maintaining high standards of conduct and behavior among coaches, parents and players
  • Works in collaboration with Rec Director to build a program that meaningfully connects players in our recreational program with our Juniors program 
  • Staff technical training, camps, clinics.
  • Serve as a mentor to new/assistant coach(es) as assigned.
  • Manage day-to-day 6U-10U coach operations.
    • Oversee age group coaching.
    • Ensure all players are receiving age-appropriate curriculum in a way that is consistent with club-identified best training practices.
  • Collaborate with other Juniors directors and coaches to oversee player development.
    • Are the club’s Throughlines being advanced?
      • Soccer should be fun.
      • Age-appropriate Tactical Development.
      • Age-appropriate Technical Development.
    • Collaboratively develop curriculum and player development plans for all players within our Juniors Program.
  • Conduct and supervise all practices.  
  • Schedule and attend all contests (games and scrimmages). 
  • Conduct year-round field maintenance and perform pre-game and post-game field preparation.
  • Coordinate maintenance of soccer program equipment.

Qualifications:

  • Licenses: USSF “C” License preferred, USSF “D” License or higher or comparable equivalent required.
  • Experience: 3-5 years coaching experience.
  • Skills:
    • Team player with a strong ability to collaborate.
    • Strong interpersonal skills with a recognized ability to build and maintain relationships across all stakeholder groups – players, parents, colleagues, community members, Board members.
    • Strong conflict resolution skills.
    • Detail-oriented and ability to produce accurate results.
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
    • Proficiency using spreadsheets, word documents, and slideshows.
    • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
      • Manage communications in a professional and timely manner.
      • Meet deadlines.
    • Excellent prioritization, organizational and problem solving skills.

Relationships:

  • Build and maintain excellent relationships with players of all ages.
  • Build and maintain excellent relationships with all adult stakeholders- parents, colleagues, community members, Board members.
  • Report to Directors of Coaching. 
  • Works closely with Staff.
  • Works with team coaches, managers, and parents.
