My name is Michael Romenesko. My wife, Callie, and I are dentists practicing in Appleton, WI, and we have two sons, Max (2010) and Frankie (2013). I have been involved in organized soccer for most of my life, starting with the Appleton Soccer Club throughout my youth career. I played four years at Xavier High School, earning two-time conference player of the year and two-time first-team all-state honors. Following high school, I joined the University of Wisconsin-Madison Badgers in 1999, receiving Freshman of the Year honors and finishing in the top three in points for my first season. In 2001, I transferred to the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay and played one season before early acceptance to the Dental School at Marquette University in Milwaukee, WI.
My coaching career began in my senior year of high school with Appleton Soccer. Since then, I’ve coached with FC Magic, Junior Rebels, FC Menasha, and Wisconsin United FC. Soccer has been and continues to be a passion for me. While I loved playing throughout my career, coaching is where my heart truly lies. I enjoy working with players and coaches of all ages.
My coaching philosophy centers on the idea that the joys, excitement, successes, failures, teamwork, and community experiences gained through soccer translate to the real world. It’s important for young people to realize that they are not simply training to play a game; they are learning valuable life skills such as friendship, leadership, and problem-solving that they will carry with them throughout their lives.
Coaching is a very rewarding experience. If you’re interested in becoming a coach or assistant coach for Recreational or Club Level teams, fill out our signup form or contact us for more information. We’re always looking for talented tacticians and sideline generals.
